In the Si Hua lineage, they love to study dynamic interactions between the stems, palaces and stars. To get started, the solar date must be converted to the lunar date. Next the chart must be plotted and that takes time as there are at least 16 stars. Well a computer can do the first 3 phases faster than anyone now.
Once basic chart is completed, one must memorize the Si Hua formulae for the 10 stems and perform basic analysis on the interacting palaces.
